Horsforth Live At Home Scheme |

Kingfisher not only launched and promoted a successful Christmas Hamper Appeal, asking the community to donate enough food from their cupboards to create a three-course meal for each Scheme member, but also sought to address a long-running transport problem facing volunteer helpers. With drivers finding it increasingly difficult to locate out-of-town addresses and plan the pick-up routes for the ever-growing number of members, we presented Barbara and the Horsforth Live At Home Scheme volunteers with a state-of-the-art satellite navigation system. "The scheme has almost 400 members and it varies week to week who uses the minibus on what day," explains Barbara. "With so much variation and so many new members every month, it can be a problem planning out how our drivers will get all the people to where they need to go." "The new navigation system helps enormously with pre-planning routes for member pick-up, as well as taking the hassle out of organising day trips to places we haven't visited before." |

Long-time Kingfisher customer, Barbara McLaren, helps to run the Horsforth Live At Home Scheme, a service that provides a strong support network, social events and transport facilities for elderly residents, allowing them to keep their independence and stay in their own homes for as long as possible.
